It's time for Big Bear to hibernate, so Old Man Winter keeps telling him sleep, Big Bear, sleep. But Big Bear doesn't hear very well. He thinks Old Man Winter has told him to drive a jeep, to sweep, and to leap. Big Bear just can't seem to hear what Old Man winter is saying. Finally, Old Man Winter finds a noisy way to get Big Bear's attention.

Six animals communicate with each other at the commencement of winter hibernation. Each animal tells one animal, who in turn tells another. The cycle, which begins with the bear, does not stop until he hears the news of the upcoming winter himself.

Possum awakes one evening and decides to throw a party in celebration of the beautiful harvest moon. He convinces his meadow friends to take time from preparing for the winter to celebrate with him.

Carruthers, the bear, is in a very grumpy mood and has been for days. His two friends notice it and try to cheer him up. Finally they realize Carruthers is tired and should have been asleep for the winter, so they help him go to bed.

Let's watch different animals come out of hibernation and observe the changes in nature during spring and summer.

Possum is determined to find out who has awakened him and all his animal friends from their winter naps. They soon discover that the Peep!Peep!Peep! is coming from an ambitious frog who is ready to begin spring.

One summer, as young Clee finds herself lost in the shuffle with the arrival of a new baby brother, Uncle Fishtank Hal comes to the rescue when he asks her to care for his special southern-breed turtle. For Clee, caring for the turtle is like therapy to cope with the new changes in her life. That is until the turtle dies due to the harsh cold winter and Clee is forced to bury him out in the yard. Without the turtle, Clee spends time with her new brother and learns to enjoys his company. In spring however, the turtle springs back to like in the compost pile and Clee gains a new outlook on the changes in her life.

The river ice begins to crack as spring descends upon the Alaskan tundra. The raven knows it is time to wake up, so he flies about alerting his animal friends of spring's arrival. The melting ice brings new life and excitement to the animals who live along side the river.

In November the air is chilly. The earth and all of it's animals and people begin to prepare for winter. Animals begin to sleep more and make warm homes for themselves. Friends and family gather together to celebrate Thanksgiving. Enyoy the sites, sounds, and activities of November.

Granny Rose and her dog, Henry, go for a walk in the woods and get stuck in a blizzard. Henry finds a cave for shelter, where the two run into a bear.

The forest animals are sleeping during the winter. Suddently they all smell something, run to the scent and realize that it is a flower in the snow.

A bear is luckily in hibernation when a hunter comes to look for him, but wakes up when spring returns.

Buzzy Bear goes south with the birds, but realizes he forgot some important articles. He goes back home, becomes tired, and decides to take a long winter's nap.

It is autumn, and Big Double the Bear is eating everything in sight to prepare for hibernation. Little Tricker the squirrel must save his friends and his home from the very hungry bear.

A bug crawls all the way out of her skin! She sleeps then she blossoms into a beautiful butterfly. On her journey, she repeats her chant, Gotta Go! Gotta Go To Mexico! to all the insects and animals along her way. When her destination is reached, she flutters and dances around in the warm sky with her companion. A bug returns, lays her eggs, and the cycle of life is repeated again and again.
