The Do’s and Don’ts of Getting Along
by Katie Osburn and Christina Zaffiro
Have you ever had a fight with a friend? How did that make you feel? There are many ways to solve problems when you’re fighting with a friend. You must think of your do’s and don’ts!
Don’t… Push, shove, hit, kick or bite your friend. These actions are harmful and can hurt your friend.
Do… Keep your hands to yourself.
Don’t… call your friend mean names even if you’re unhappy with them. Unkind words hurt feelings.
Do… treat others how you would like to be treated. Speak to them how you would like to be spoken to.
Don’t… ignore the problem. Ignoring it can create bigger problems.
Do… talk about how you’re feeling with your friend and let them know why you’re upset. Be sure you listen to how they’re feeling, too!
Don’t… Yell at your friend. This will make the problem worse and harder to get solved.
Do… Calmly speak to your friend using a respectful tone of voice.
Solving problems is difficult at times but friends find ways to avoid angry feelings and actions by using their do’s and don’t for getting along.
Remember that every problem has a solution! Be helpful not hurtful!
