By Chelsea Smith and Elizabeth Mazgaj Soccer, also known as (futbol), is a sport practiced by people around the world. Futbol is a social sport, because players must work together (juntos) on a team. Typically there are eleven players on a team (el equipo). The players use their minds and whole bodies to try to score the most goals (los goles) for their team. Futbol is very physical because players are always running across the field (el campo) and kicking the ball. Futbol players use their feet especially to run and kick the ball (el balón). On their feet (los pies), players wear cleats to have better traction in the field. Though other players cannot use their hands (las manos), the goalie must wear gloves to protect them from being injured. It is important for soccer players to be alert on the field and speak with their mouth (la boca) to communicate with other players. Players use their eyes (los ojos) to watch where the ball is going. Participating in soccer will help you develop mental, emotional, social, and physical health (la salud).
